I have a Thermador SGCS304RS gas cooktop. The rear extralow burner sparks when I turn it on but there is no ignition. I do not smell gas so assume it is in the gas supply system. What can I do? Thanks, Andrew

Hello,
Most likely you have a potentiomer that's gone bad. The potentiometer is a switch that, among other things, sends voltage to a gas solenoid valve. Depending on the serial number of your cooktop, the part number will be one of the following:

Serial number prior to 9705: 189819
Serial number of 9706 and after: 497235

The 497235 is a kit which includes both pots and a simmer control. All three parts will need to be replaced.
