viking burner flame jumps

hi,
i have a viking range. 4 burners and 1 bbq. the burners light just fine but when they are lit the flame jumps - meaning that the flame is not consitently ON through all holes in the burner. this is same for all 4 burners. the bbq portion (which is in the middle) works like a charm. any advise would be greatly appreciated.
