Hi,

I just replaced the igniter in my gas oven. I was having problems with the oven taking forever to preheat and not even getting up to temp in the last day or two. It's about 6 years old.

I got a replacement from a local appliance repair shop. The replacement was a GE igniter that the shop said would work. I've attached a pic of the new one next to the old one. The old one is on the left and has the much longer insulator.

The problem, as you can see in the other picture, is that when the new one is installed, it doesn't fit flush to the back of the oven and leaves at least a 1/4" gap where you can see through the back wall of the oven into the insulated space.

Is it ok to have this gap? It seems like alot.

Thanks for your help!
