Default Igniter installation for Tappan Oven
Model Number: 30806637e7063   Brand: Tappan   Age: More than 10 years

I have received the ignitor from this site and have a few question on installation

I have removed the oven floor and baffle I can see the burner and ignitor but the wires go down through into the back floor of the oven. can i splice the ignitor here or should i try to locate the other end near the valve

Also does it matter which wire on the new ignitor goes which wire on the old connector that i will splice in

You can definitely splice the igniter from inside of the oven and it does not matter which wire where goes.

Gene thanks for the quick reply oven is working like new The two screws that attach igniter to burner were frozen on I had to drill out the screws and use new screws there must be a easier way to remove old screws whats your secret?

Also the stove top center burner (grill) does not light I hear no clicking sound i have to use a starter stick to light it all other burners work fine the right front burner s a little slow to start maybe take 15-20 clicks before it starts with a big poof

I'm glad you were able to fix the oven.

Most likely the problem with the grill is a bad ignition switch and the right front burner probably needs cleaning. For more accurate advise I need the right model number of the range. The model number you posted is incorrect.

The part number for the ignition switch is AP2124410

Looking at the burner you can see a few holes around the top part of the burner and a few vertical holes from the ignition side. It is very important to have all these holes open. You can use any sharp pin (like a toothpick) to unblock them.
