Unplug the unit
Remove the bake element It is a good idea to clip something onto the wires (clothespin or something) so they do not disappear into the back of the unit. Measure the element with a meter for continuity. Also check that the insulation on the element is OK (no bubbling etc. Also check that the connectors to the element are OK.
