We have a GE JT950 (specifically, GE JT950S0A3SS) double oven. In this model, you enter the desired temperature on the keypad, and the display shows the current temperature until the oven reaches the set temperature. Recently, in the top oven, we've noticed very long baking times. (Bottom oven is fine.) I suspect that the oven isn't reaching the set temperature, even though the display shows that it has. I don't have a good way to measure the temperature directly, though I am willing to buy a good thermometer if someone can recommend one. (I read everywhere that the grocery store models are junk.) Seems like a thermostat problem. Is there some way to check?

Thanks for the pointer. I unscrewed the probe, but there's no obvious way to disconnect the wiring. Do I have to pull out the oven to disconnect it? That seems a bit much for a do-it-yourselfer. Do I just snip the wire and then splice in a new probe? Seems feasible, but I hate to snip the probe before I know that it's faulty.
