Sooo ... I unplugged the stove, removed the screws, pulled the elements into the stove - BUT - I can't seem to disconnect the wires. Is there something that I am overlooking? Please help!

If the element will not pull out enough for the wires that are connecting to the element are visibile, then you have to take the back panel off the oven, and remove them from the rear. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Take a look at the first picture. Not a bake element but usually they use this type of connector http://forum.appliancepartspros...g-dryer-model-de412.htmlCheck the hook up to be sure it is the same. I have never seen it but a person on this forum said theirs had a small lock lever that had to be pushed to release the receptacle. Try pushing it off with a flat screw drive going back and forth from side to side. Do not pull on the wires as they will just pull out. I do not even like using pliers on the connector. Since the old element is toast grap it close to the end of the receptacle with pliers, then take a flat screw driver and pry the receptacle off the plug by twisting the screw driver against the pliers and the reptacle. This is easier than the driver slipping off the receptacle and either impaling your hand or denting the back of the oven. Hope I explained this so it makes sense. Often they are difficult to get off, they seize to the element over time. |
