Hi All,

The bake element in my stove recently blew, which appears to be a common issue with this model. No worries, I ordered a new element and popped it in the other day.

But it won't heat up.

Reading further, I discovered that the control/clock unit can often be damaged when the bake element blows. But I am unsure that is the issue.

The new element is good (checked continuity) and it works when I plug it into the broil leads.

Here's the kicker... when I plug the broil element into the bake leads, it heats, so I know electricity is getting to the bake leads.

But bake element plugged into bake leads produces no heat, which is the desired result of course!

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I am pretty handy and have my multi-meter ready to go.

Cheers!

Man you must have said something to the stove and it took offense since it sounds like it is messing with you.

Remove the bake element and check for resistance from each of it's connectors to it's mounts, all should be open.

Perhaps when you install the bake element it is putting extra strain or less strain on the wires and causing an open. Check the connectors at each end also run your fingers along the wires to ensure that there is not a break internally.

Could be the replacement element is no good and when installed it opens.

Remove the back of the unit and measure the voltage across the element if you see 240 volts and it does not heat up you know the element is bad for some strange reason. Am not sure how easy this will be and the manual is sort of useless.
