Model Number: mer6765bas Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
Over is 22 months old. Upper oven problem: When you try to preheat upper oven for baking both the broiler element and the lower element come on. Replaced the control panel today. No help same problem. Is This normal operation ????
What else is in that circuit? This started about 2 weeks ago. It was a off/on type thing. Wife kept telling me it was messing up but I could never get it to act up. Finally it messed up for good. Thanks. Ads By Google Related Models |

Thanks for info. What got this started was she was cooking in the top oven and she smelled something burning. The broiler element and lower was on resulting in the top of what she was cooking to burn. I will preheat it tonight and then open door so it will cool some, and see if top element come back on or just lower.

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for MAYTAG MER6765BAS Freestanding - Double Oven - Electric | AppliancePartsPros.com Here is the tech sheet and a manual http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...s/16027359.pdf http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...s/16023416.pdf It is not uncommon for the broil element to operate during the bake cycle. This is done to maintain a more even heat distribution in the oven. Page 5 of the tech sheet shows that this is what this oven does. Usually they cycle between the elements though I could not confirm this, perhaps you can find this info in the manual.

Deman:
Go ahead and kick me in the rear end now. After reading the info the oven is working correctly. The wife had to mess up somehow in operating the oven. She said the more she thinks about it perhaps she reset the oven to a higher preheat temp than she was using and maybe left what she had in the oven. This has to be what happened . Thank you again for the great info. Saved me tons of time trying to fix something that was working. Merry Christmas and thanks again |
