Oven top element works only to broil not bak
Model Number: GE JBP 80 Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
Our GE oven is 5 years old. On Thanksgiving the turkey did not cook properly, and we later discovered that the upper element was not red and did not appear to be getting hot. We turned the oven on broil to test it and the element then got red and hot.
We have not used a thermometer to test the temperature yet. Any suggestions on what we could be the problem? Thank you! Ads By Google Related Models

Bake and Broil heating elements do not work together. It is normal. On some models Broil heating element works on 50% of regular power during Bake cycle preheat and does not get red. More likely there is a temperature problem.
