I've got a Maytag oven with a lower burner problem, broiler works fine. When the oven lights, it smells like the propane/oxygen ratio is off. On occasion, the burner doesn't light at all, but a small flame appears at the orifice. The regulator has a shutoff lever, and if I turn off/on the gas the burner lights fine. Once the thermostat cycles, the problem returns. It apears there's a flow problem.

Since the broiler and stove appear to work fine, I do not believe this to be a regulator problem. That said, the next part in the line is the valve assembly which I believe independantly controls both the broiler and the lower burner.

Is this a known type of failure on this valve, or is there another explanation?
