I have a 12 year old Kenmore gas range model # 362.75876 691. Recently I replaced the burner bake tube because the ignitor had burned a hole in it. Now I am having a problem with weak gas flow into the burner bake tube, so much so that occasionally there is a propane smell outside the range or even flames at the gas/air mixing shutter. By merely putting my little finger into the shutter and wiping the top of the gas orifice it instantly reestablishes strong gas flow and proper burner operation. I have removed and cleaned the gas supply tube between the gas valve and the mixing shutter without any improvement in the problem. I am stumped as to what to try next.

Mike,

Using a toothpeak, clean the hole in the orifice. Try to adjust the air mixture by turning the air mixture shutter in both directions.

Gene.
