Default Magic Chef oven -burner doesn't light

Burner didn't light; purchased igniter kit (MAC 1240035) and Valve.Safety (24" LP) (MAC 12002128). Burner still won't light. What's my next step? Salesman at AppliancePartsPro.com advised me to contact you. Thanks, AV Berviller

if you are not getting power to those, which it sounds like you aren't, it could be your control/thermostat??? i don't know which one you have... but that's probably your problem...could be a fuse though... need model...

Open the control panel, remove wires from the oven thermostat and check for continuity across the thermostat terminals while the thermostat is "on".

Replace the oven thermostat if it's open.

- The part number for the oven thermostat is AP379270

Here are the break down diagrams for the Magic Chef oven Model 9122VUV

Gene: I just took off the panel and checked the thermostat per your instructions. There is continuity across it. What's next? Thanks, Art

Hi Art,

If the new igniter glows but gas does not come out - check the gas shut off valve next to the gas safety valve. It could be closed since you replaced the safety valve.

If the igniter does not glow - check for 120V coming to the igniter while the thermostat calls for heat.

Post your findings, please.

Gene.

rene,

Most likely the problem is a bad igniter even if it does glow. You can learn how oven igniter works from one of our previous posts:
Oven won't lite?

- The part number for the oven igniter is AP205873

Here are the break down diagrams for the Magic Chef range Model 9122VUV
