oven won't light
Model Number: CHG9800BAE Brand: Maytag Age: More than 10 years
Could someone please help me diagnose this?? Turned on the oven and it made this big whooshing sound.. like gas escaping.. so I turned it off. Now it will not light. The glow plug glows, and the broiler works as do the burners.
I am guessing it is the gas valve... How can I test it and what else should I look for? Thanks

the ignitor color should be bright yellow, not orange. if it is orange, it's probably your ignitor as they often get weak. they will work sometimes, and don't always light immediately, often lighting with a small bang when they do.
check for 120 volts at the ignitor wires... if you got it, it's definitely the ignitor. roy
