Model Number: LCRE800 Brand: Maytag Age: More than 10 years
Oven does not work, neither Broiler nor Bake, timer & control panel appear to work, top burners work fine.
I set the oven for a 3 hour self clean, using Maytag directions, no trouble doing so before this, nor this time, but...now the small red oven light indicator does not go on, nor does the oven work-heat, either for "Bake" or "Broil". (Have not tried "Timed Bake", never use it, but DID try Clean cycle again, as per instructions, for a 30 min. cleaning....timer and lock appear to work fine, and shut off fine, but no heat. ) I can see....from what I have read in present forum listings, that apparently it is better not to use the self-cleaning cycle at all....true?) (If it's a thermal fuse switchout, where is the fuse located? Don't see it on any of the four exploding charts for this model...I can check for continuity if I can find it...) Any ideas gratefully received. Ads By Google Related Models |

....(Lesson #1...."This is a common problem"; and Lesson #2..."Don't use the self-cleaning feature unless you wish to...'prematurely'...buy a new stove, or risk interesting service-repair problems...do I have it right?") .....Off comes back panel covering the wiring for both burner elements and the three phase connector to the plug.....and there it was...attached to the back wall, somewhat above the oven heating element connections....I'm guessing the thing, which is a little over 5/8 " diameter, and 1/2 " deep, two leads, brown hard plastic with a metal face which attaches to the oven wall, is the thermal fuse, and sure enough, tests as open... ....Thank you all for the "heads-up", and I'm hoping....this is just a simple fuse replacement... (....I suppose I COULD simply "hot-wire" the two connectors together and see what happens....but I'm for replacing the part instead....anybody got a part number for this puppy? |
