left front burner just stopped working Is this a dIY repair and what parts should I start with?

Most likely the infinite switch, it's an easy thirty dollar fix. You'll have to remove a few screws in the back of the control panel to get to it. Try a working element of the same size from another burner to see if it's the element first.
