I have a thermador cooktop and the slow simmer is not working .I took the top apart and checked the selinoid out and I was able to take the wire from the other seliniod and attach them to the one that was not working and I got it to work .I noticed on the front of the stove there is 2 x2 flat computer like chip could this be the problem.

and what does this part do . Because there isnt any gas getting to the port .

There is at least one other thread about this. The "chip" you mention is actually a potentiometer. There is an apparent known problem with original-issue cooktops and stoves (I'm waiting for a mailorder potentiometer to get to me to fix MY Thermador stove).
