Model Number: JGBP28EEH1BB Brand: GE Age: 1 - 5 years
Based on the information found in these boards, I replaced the lower "bake" ignitor first. That didn't help. Then, again, based upon the information found here I replaced the electronic control unit (everything where the clock goes). The bake feature is still not working. When i select bake, it goes to "PRE" as if it were going to start, but no gas comes out - no audible or smell. And the ignitor doesn't light either. What else could it be??? I hope you APP guys can help. (Yes the range and broil functions work fine.)

Locate the gas safety valve (#214 on the diagram). This is a dual (Bake and Broil parts in one body) gas valve. Locate the two terminals for the Bake part. Remove the wires and check for continuity between these terminals. If it's open then the gas safety valve is the culprit.
- The gas safety valve Part number: AP3736193 Gene.

I have a similar problem with a GE JGBP28GEL. The display does not show any error codes. I replaced the oven ignitor but it still doesn't light. After, I tested the voltage on the Electronic Oven Control (EOC) and it looks like there isn't any voltage coming from the relay to the ignitor. I also noticed that there isn't any voltage coming from the broiler relay to its ignitor. BTW, I tested each after turning the oven/broiler feature on to initiate the relay sequence. After I saw this thread, I tested continuity between the two terminals on the gas valve and it came back as closed (not infinity).
Is this a EOC problem? I also read that it could be an oven sensor issue but that is usually associated with a trouble code. Please help me troubleshoot this issue. Thanks, Jon |

If there is no proper voltage from the EOC while it calls for heat, the EOC is the culprit. Unfortunately this part has been discontinued by GE and is no longer available. Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for General Electric JGBP28GEL | AppliancePartsPros.com Gene.

I do not think the problem is a bad sensor because in such situation you should see an error code on the display. The oven sensor is still available.

I tested all components and I finally decided to send the timer switch EOC (main relay, computer board) into repair. I sent it to generaltimerepairs.com and they discovered that a relay and some capacitors were bad. I'm waiting for its return but I think I finally figured this problem out. I'll post when all is repaired.
