The oven may also go by PK956-27

I bought this oven used and feel pretty confident that I installed it correctly. The wires coming out of the oven matched the wiring from the old oven, so I wired it the exact same way.

When using either of the ovens on this double wall oven, it heats up, but very slowly. maybe an hour to get to 300 degrees. Both ovens do the same thing. Neither of the elements glow red hot when the oven is set to a high temp like 400 degrees, but they are hot to the touch. I suspect the oven is only using 120 volts.

I checked both heating elements with a multi meter and found they were both in good shape. I received a solid tone on the multimeter when attaching the probes to each end of the element.

If it makes a difference, the two wires coming from my house fuse box contained one black wire as well as one red wire. And of course a third open copper wire as a ground.

From the oven, I attached the thick black wire to the house black wire. I attached the oven thick red wire to the house white wire. The lighter weight white wire coming from the oven was attached to the ground wire from the house as well as the open copper ground wire from the oven. In other words, those three ground wires are twisted together. And of course proper plastic wire nuts were used inside a junction box. I did go back to the junction box after experiencing the problem and took the wire nuts off to be sure the wires were all connected. They looked fine, so I put everything back together.

I placed each probe out of my mutimeter on each of the wires attached to the heating element and read 122 volts when the oven was set to 400 degrees. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to connect the probes to each wire, or one probe to a wire and one probe to the cabinet (ground).

I double checked the household current and found 240 volts going into the oven.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
