Kenmore Elite Wall Oven Fault F30 and F10
Model Number: 790.4790 Brand:
More than 10 years
Our Kenmore wall oven has been working great for ten years but recently (on a couple of occasions) has given us a fault code F30 (open resistance on temperature probe) and F10 (runaway temperature) when using the lower oven.
I assume the F10 fault is bogus and happens only because the faulty temperature probe resistance is making the oven think that the temp is too high.
From these symptoms, is it safe to assume that the problem here is the oven temperature probe? I understand that it's also possibly the wiring or connection to the control board, or even the board itself, but I would guess that a wiring issue is much less likely than the probe itself going bad. I noticed there is also a Range High Limit thermostat part, if that failed (or was flaky) would it manifest as a different fault?
Any advice? Anyone BTDT? From the replacement part picture on the sears website, it looks like a connectorized temp probe and (hopefully) a straightforward replacement from the inside of the oven.
Thanks for any help or advice!
