Alternate thermostat for thermador?
Model Number: GCR36 4GL Brand:
More than 10 years
I recently bought a house with an old thermador stove/oven. it passed a quick on/off inspection, but after i moved in and burned some food, a thermometer showed that the oven was going up to 900+ degrees, regardless of the knob setting. a local thermador repair shop visited and said that the thermostat needs to be replaced, but is not available anymore. they offered to repair it if i could supply a new or used replacement. here's where i'm running into problems.
the original thermostat is thermador part number 2001765, later replaced by bosch 486944. both of these are out of production, and after looking for a couple months, seem totally unobtainable. bosch part number 486945, on the other hand, is readily available on the used markets, and occasionally even new. it looks the same to my (totally untrained) eye, and i was wondering if this (or any other) thermostat might work, other than 2001765/486944. i REALLY don't want to replace this beautiful stove because of one failed part!
thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide!!
