Interior oven vent leaking condensation onto food
Model Number: WOD51EC0AS01 Brand:
1 - 5 years
I've been trying to solve this problem but haven't had any responses on other forums, so I'm trying here with high hopes.
I have a Whirlpool WOD51EC0AS01 double oven. I noticed the other day while cooking that water was gushing from the inside ceiling of the oven onto the food tray below (gross, to say the least). When I opened the oven to peek inside, I saw there was a small circle with a metal piece that had tiny holes all over it...this is where the water had gushed from (and it gushed, it didn't just drip). When I look at the outside of the oven, it appears that the circle inside may be part of the venting system, since the exterior vent just above the door on the outside lines up with the small circle that would be inside. Hope that's not too confusing. So it seems like the condensation is building up inside this circle, but instead of releasing heat outside of the oven, the water builds up until it gushes onto the food below.
I can't find anything online about this, other than a similar problem with Kenmore's leaking--requiring "scoop kits" or something. Can't find anything for this Whirlpool. Is it similar, in that I need to have the venting fixed on the top oven? If so, what part(s) do I need? What caused this?
Clearly the water isn't supposed to build up inside the oven until it gushes out onto the food below. I can certainly call appliance repair (and may have to), but if no one knows what to do here, I'm worried it's pointless to pay for a repair visit! Worried I need a new oven when these are only a few years old.
Any help is sincerely appreciated!
