After a self clean cycle noticed oven was still extremely hot hours after complete. Element had broken in half, one side was still glowing - the side that was still in position on its feet. Disassembled today, the "glowing" half was connected to two black leads. The "cold" half was connected to one white lead.

I'm guessing white is the control/switch and blacks are always hot, circuit was being completed thru the oven body, which is why the element was still burning even though controls are off.

That sound about right? Just trying to understand what the heck is going on.
