I was preheating the oven and suddenly there was a loud pop, and a red flash at the control panel. After that control panel was dead. I assume it is fried. Is it cheaper to replace the whole oven or the control panel?

If I had your model number I could tell you if the part was available and how much it costs. I guess it depends on how old your range is and how much you think is reasonable for a repair.
