Daughter called and said the oven is not working but everything else is. Before I head over there (50 miles), what should I be looking for? I am an engineer so I am pretty handy (believe it or not!).

Thanks,

Tony

OK, I sure could use some advice here. The range clock is working, all the touch controls seem to be working (set oven, broiler, cleaning cycle, timers, etc), but the oven does not fire up. I can hear relays clicking in and all the indicator lights work. NO CODES ARE THROWN.

We shut the power off to the stove, waited a while and it came on with the similar result (the lights are on but nobody's home (no oven workee)).

So, I found out daughter had a tech come out a while back and his estimate for $450 is that it "needs ERC".

Anyone help with this? Could the ERC be out and not throw a code? Is there something else to look at (thermocouple)?

Thanks,

Tony

Tony,

Remove the Bake heating element, remove the wires from its terminals and check the heating element for continuity. Replace if it's open.

Check for 240 VAC between those wires while the control calls for Bake. If there is no proper voltage, replace the ERC (aka a clock). It has to be replaced together with overlay because it's glued to the clock.

- The Bake element Part number: AP2126365
Part number: AP2126365

- The ERC Part number: AP3764682
Part number: AP3764682

- The clock overlay Part number: AP2126498
