In the past month I've noticed that when the setting for the power element is set below maximum, the element will still sporadically heat up as if it's on maximum setting. For example, the dial may be set to 5, but when the element cools down and turns back on, it goes full-hot instead of just getting to the medium-heat setting like it used to do.

I also posted a separate thread about the front-right element not being as hot as the others. Not sure if these are 2 unrelated issues or if there is an overarching common problem causing both.
