Question Not heating over 215
Model Number: LGEF3045KFB   Brand: Frigidaire   Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

Hello all, I'm hoping someone has an answer for me because I'm at a bit of a loss. Sorry for the amount of detail, I just don't know what else I need to do. The oven has been working great until a week ago. Turned on the oven and would would go over 215 or so after about 30-45 mins. I then turned to broil and it would not glow or even get hot. I checked the resistance on the broil element and got around 13 ohms. I bought a new probe and realized that was the issue. I checked the bake element and got around 13 ohms as well. I also have a convection option in the oven and checked that coil and got a reading of about 43 ohms. I checked each wire going to the elements by themselves and got 0.1 ohms on all of those. I watched another video and checked for continuity from the element leads to the back of the oven. The bake and broil elements were fine with no reading, but when I checked the convection element, it toned out. I noticed the insulation where the element pokes through looked brown and was a little sticky. I got that off pulling just the dirty part of the sticky insulation off and that fixed the grounding out issue. I don;t know if that shorted something else out or not. I'm not familiar enough with what the ohm readings should be on all of this stuff, I've been reading up on it and watching different videos about it, but still not quite clear what all my readings really mean and how to decide if that's saying it's good or not. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

The ohm readings sound about right. Did you say you replaced the oven temperature sensor? If you have, that doesn't leave much. Its probably your electronic control.

Hey "ThatGuy", thanks for getting back to me. I did replace what the website calls the probe (Part Number AP3963654) which from what I gather is the temp sensor. When I found the continuity from the back convection element to the back of the oven, is there a good chance it shorted something out, i.e. the control board? Also, is there any way to check the control board?

I don't know if there is a self test.

I would think its probably the electric control. That's my best guess at this point.

Its quite possible the board could have been damaged by shorting a power lead to ground.
