Default Oven won't go over 250 degrees
Model Number: rdss30   Brand: Thermador   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

My thermador oven will heat to 250 degrees and then shut off. It will not broil or convect either. I think it is either the thermostat or control panel but I need some advice before I order any $300 parts. Heating element seems to test out fine.
Thanksgiving is coming and the turkey just won't be the same if I have to microwave it.
Thanks

Default Customer Service

I was really hoping that someone could help me with this issue. Thermador can't help and your customer service referred me back to this forum. My search on this issue has come up with several other inquiries concerning a potential control panel problem but none of them have been answered. Is there another forum that could answer this issue?

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for rdss30 models | AppliancePartsPros.com

First I would unplug the unit, remove the broil element and check it, should be around 10 ohms. Many units either turn both elements on or switch back and forth during preheat. Also many switch back and forth between bake and broil elements during a bake cycle as this gives a more even heat in the oven.
If OK
Pull the oven sensor and check it for resistance, see below link.

The wiring diagram in the parts is very poor quality so I cannot say how it is wired. Some units use a relay board.
So beyond the above I cannot help.

Here is a good link with basic info and troubleshooting

Thanks for the reply. As it turns out the broil element does work fine and heats properly. In order to check the oven sensor I need to pull the oven which is a bit of a project in itself. The one factor that I neglected to mention is that when the oven is turned on I hear a relay click on and then quickly off every minute or so. It seems that the oven is calling for heat but the relay may be the problem. Any thoughts?
