Is it possible to remove the clickstops (detents) from a selector knob?
I've got a circa-2008 Bosch HBL5045UAC wall oven that needs a new temperature selector knob (Bosch part #00600182). Wouldn't you know it... they don't make the replacement part anymore. And I can't find a NOS part anywhere online (google, amazon, the 'bay.... nada).
I did find a slightly different Bosch selector pot (part #600130) and installed it. And it works! But...
It has clickstops throughout the whole rotation of the knob. So my wife can only choose 170 degrees, 365 degrees, 440 degrees, etc. (You can manually hold the knob in-between the clickstops to get the other temp choices, but letting go of the knob immediately returns the knob to the nearest clickstop position.)
Any way to remove these detents/clickstops? Or a way to find the discontinued part? Maybe some other part will work? This was a $2,000 oven that still works great; hate to toss it to the curb over one discontinued $12 part.
