Oven - I think I need a new Igniter but not sure, It may be the gas valve. A little help with the diagnostics would be a great help.
I turn on the oven and it takes 40 seconds before the igniter starts to glow. Then 3 minutes later the gas valve opens up and I get a great large flame along the burner. This lasts about 20 seconds and then the gas flame diminishes down to a barely lit burner.
Is this an igniter problem or a gas valve problem? I am thinking that since it take so long to light the burner (3:45) that it is the igniter. It is opening the gas valve but then not able to keep the valve fully open.
One more oddity, If I set the temperature to 350 degrees the pre-heated indicator goes off after 15-20 minutes but when I check the oven temperature with a thermometer it is only at 250 degrees. The burner is still on (if you want to even call it on with such a low flame) and after about 45 minutes the 2nd thermometer inside the oven finally reaches 350 degrees. However the oven does not keep that temperature if you open the door to check on the food in the oven the temp drops and the oven can not get it back to 350. any thoughts??
Thanks
Don
