Post Fault code 7, JEN AIR Gas-Elec Range
Model Number: SVD48600W   Brand: Jenn-Air   Age: More than 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

I turned on oven and after a few minutes the oven started beeping and Fault Code 7 appeared. I hit the cancel off key and the beeping subsided for a minute or so then came on and started beeping again. I believe it the control panel. Is it difficult to replace and what is the correct part number and cost. Thank you

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for JENN-AIR SVD48600W | AppliancePartsPros.com

Here is a service manual which should help
http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...s/16010191.pdf

F7 is a shorted key error
It can be caused by one of 2 parts either the keypad or the control board.
See Section 4 is the parts above.
Item 2 switch-membrane is the keypad. Note that there are different colors.
Item 3 is the Electronic oven control assembly

Most of the time it is the keypad that is bad.

One way to check it is to use a meter on the ribbon cable to see if a key is always closed. Unfortunately the manual does not give a pin-out for your unit and I am not sure that one on Page 1-16 for a SVE47600 is the same as yours.

You could unplug the keypad ribbon cable and then give it a try if the error does not come up again odds are high that it is the keypad.

Be sure to remove power from the unit when doing this.

Post Jen Air

One detail I forgot to mention was the display board has been fading in and out for about the last 60 days. It would go blank and I could tap the window of the display board and it would come back where you could read, Temp and time. Lately it went out altogether. You could set the temp of the oven and hear the chime. Also, if you set the timer it would go off when done, even though nothing could be read on the display. The oven worked fine. But right when it the F7 symptoms appeared you could read the display again. Does this narrow down what the problem is?

That does sound like more of a control board problem than a keyboard problem.

I would still try cleaning the contacts.
Also I would check the solder joints on the board for a bad one.
Cold solder joints are often a gray instead of silver color.
Wiggle the capacitors (small cans) a little while watching the back side of the board. If the leg moves then tou have a bad solder joint.

Default Access to control panel

I removed the four hex screws from under the access panel and like instructed by the manual I pulled out and down and I cannot get the panel to come out in order to get access to the control board. Any suggestions.

I found this on Applianceblog

I reviewed the service manual which states,”remove the four hex head screws from the bottom of the control panel. Grasp the panel by the sides and pull out and down”. I also removed the two side trim pieces to confirm there were no screws there…none. When I pull on this I feels as though something still has a hold of the top center (over display) and I don’t want to break it.
I’ve read posts where everyone says how easy this was to do in 5 minutes. Perhaps someone who has done this recently knows the trick and would share.

For the benefit of future folks looking here I will explain. According to the service manual, "remove the four...(see above post)". What they fail to inform is that behind each knob is a screw holding the control to a bracket screwed to the frame. Once the four lower screws were removed followed by the screws holding the knobs in place the control panel slid right down. Replaced the clock in about five minutes, replaced the screws and danged if it don't work.

Smile Oven is fixed

Thank you for your help. Removing the four little screws behind the Gas Control knobs worked. The access panel came right off. I disconnected the wiring cleaned the prongs with alcohol and put it back together. Plugged it in and it works. Thanks, saved me money.

Default Replacement keyboard does not work

I have been disassmbling the removing the switch panel and cleaning the contacts since I first wrote asking for help. That worked until the latest attempt the alarm fault code kept coming on so I decided tho finally buy a new Switch Membrane keyboard. I installed it today and everything worked fine except the cancel off key. So now I can turn the oven on but I can't turn it off. Did I do something wrong or do you think the membrane keyboard is defective?
