Thanks in advance for your help......

99% of the time the oven heats properly, but occasionally it decides it won't come up to the set temperature. Tonight I set the oven to preheat to 475 degrees. It did start to heat up but never came close to reaching the set temp. Tried turning it off and back on several times to no avail. Finally raised temp setting to 550 degrees and the temp FINALLY started coming up. At any temp setting I can see the glow in the bottom of the oven and it IS heating somewhat, but sometimes will not reach to set temp. How can it work most of the time, but not work at other times?

I've read on some forums that it might be the ignitor, but if I'm getting SOME heat, how can it be the ignitor?

Any ideas????

Thanks.

Hi.

What do you use to measure the temperature in the oven? If it's accurate I need you next time when the temperature fails to go up to check if the bake ignitor (the bottom one) glows. If it does, replace it.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and parts list for your range:

Model DGGF3042KFJ

The bake ignitor Part number: AP4433237
Part number: AP4433237

You also should check the oven sensor disconnect plug, it may be burnt or loose.

Good luck. Please keep us posted with the results.

Thank you,

Simon.

Thanks for your response. I have been at a total loss as to what to check first. I am only using the temp on the control panel, not a stand alone thermometer. Preheat indicator light never goes off indicating that the oven never reached preset temp. Temp was preset to 375 degrees and the temp was so low it was obvious when I opened the door that it was not 375.

I will check both of your suggestions asap and will let you know what I find.

Hi.

Have you noticed if the bake burner comes on or only the ignitor glows?

Simon.
