Hello all, today I went to replace the light in my oven and being the bright person I am, I removed the whole fixture while the oven was plugged in. There was a pop and a bright spark from the right-hand terminal with the brown wire and now the control panel is dead, so even if the oven elements do work there's no way to turn them on.
The insulation on the brown wire of the light fixture, just beneath the terminal, appears scorched. The brown wire runs into the control panel, and the white wire from the light fixture's other terminal goes somewhere else in the back of the oven. I looked carefully at the back of the control panel and no part of it was obviously burned or damaged in any way. The capacitors look fine. The range top works fine, as does the "Burner On" light, which does run into the control panel (so at least part of the panel works, I suppose).
Would anyone know exactly what's wrong? Any chance of fixing this myself? Thanks much.
