![]() Model Number: GE JT955SK4SS Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
![]() I was hoping someone could give me some advice. I am remodeling my kitchen. There is an add for a new never installed GE Profile double ovens. The owner planned to build a house and never did. He saved the ovens for a family member and they never used them. Now they are 7yrs old. Never taken out of the box. Would anyone suggest taking a chance on buying these for like $500? The price looks OK to me. I looked the unit up at AppliancePartsPros and most parts are still available. Would be a decent deal even if you have to put a couple hundred dollars into it. A lot depends on where/how they were stored. A dry and cool place is the ideal. It they were stored in a place where the temperature can get hot then you may have to replace the control board as the capacitors can dry out over time and heat also effects them. If you do buy it I would get it at as low a price as possible. Also before installing it into the wall hook it up and check it out. You may also want to geo to the GE web site and download the manuals etc for it just to be sure it does what you want.

![]() I appreciate your input. I am going to look at it. I may even offer less than 500 given what you said about the storage. It has been stored in a storage room. Not climatized I am assuming. Our weather is very hot and humid. Can you just plug in the appliance without installing it to see if it even comes on?

Yes you can but you need a 240 volt circuit. You will have to do this once you get it home. It may cost you a few dollars in extra wire but well worth it. Fully installing it and then having to pull it because it has a problem would be a pain.
