I have a Whirlpool BI double oven and the controls have stopped working. The first couple times this happened I was able to switch off the circuit breaker, wait for a period of time, and able to restart the oven. This was not a long term fix though, and now I cannot get the oven to start at all. All of the indicator lights are unlit. Oven lights inside oven do work. All of the keypad buttons beep when you push them. There have been a couple instances during the failures/and restarts when the E6 F2 code has showed up. But right now I have no codes showing up. The information I've reviewed online seems to indicate this is likely the electronic control board part# 8302967. But what I'm finding is that it seems this part has been discontinued. With the problem I'm having could it really be something else that is wrong? I don't want to conclude the oven can't be fixed (since the part I need is discontinued) if it could be the control board is not the problem.

Here are your parts Parts for Whirlpool RBD305PDQ8 Wall Oven - AppliancePartsPros.comSee the attachment for a tech sheet. The closest I could find is for a RBD305PDQ9. Could be the control panel or the control board. I would try the following. Connector Cleaning / Checking Unplug the unit Open it up Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board. Clean the edge connector. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol. If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive. Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here. Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates. Reconnect everything and give it a try. Since powering off reset the unit odds are that it is a control board problem but the above is worth a shot. Unfortunately they do not publish a pin out diagram for the control panel/keypad so you cannot check it with a meter. Dead display is highly likely the EOC bad, the E6F2 is bad keypad, both would be bad, have had that several times....

Thanks for the advice. I tried cleaning the connection using a pencil eraser and reconnected. This did not resolve the problem. I found two businesses online that indicate they can repair this control board so I'm going to go ahead and send the board out to them. Hopefully I will get the repaired board back next week so I cn reinstall and see if that fixes the problem.
