Jenn Air S120 drop in oven (~1988) Last time I turned on to preheat, I heard a short-circuit/arc sound. I turned it off. Next time I tried, oven will not preheat above ~150F (guess) on bake cycle. On broil, oven heats and reaches setpoint on front knob in expected time. Visual inspoection of bake element shows no damage.

Any troubleshooting steps to ID failed component?

Some parts (baking element) are still available. Could it be something else?

Here are your parts

Here is a service manual which includes your unit

Unplug the unit.
Remove the bake element gently, you do not want to pull the wires off it.
Put something on the wires clothes pins work so the wires do not disappear back into the cabinet.
Unplug the element and check it with a meter, should be around 20 ohms.

If oK then you may have a wire that has burned off or the control (selector switch) is shot.
