I have a (very) old 4 prong broiler element that's obsolete. One of the prongs broke off. There's a small wire that is embedded in ceramic on the element end and so I carefully extruded the ceramic to expose more wire and so that it would be longer and better fit into the female oriented tube on the end of the prong. I did it and it worked .... although I can't quite crimp it tight enough for a really secure connection thus I noticed it arcing once or twice when I turn the oven on and as it heats up. The prong sleeve looks like it's copper. The local welder recommended (because of the possibility of copper) to solder it for a more solid/secure conductance. I'm concerned that the less than solid contact is an issue if not for fire than for the overall integrity of the thermostat. Thanks in advance for your thoughts/recommendations on how best to solidify the connection point and make it right.

I have never done this so this is just a guess.

You would have to get it silver soldered (brazed).
Standard lead solder has too low of a melting point.
