Default Oven won't light; shuts off with F2 Error during pre heat
Model Number: wfg114swq0   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

After setting the temperature and selecting start, the oven won't light on its own, unless I light one of the top burners.
Then a few minutes into pre heating it will shut off with the F2 Error.
After it is unplugged for couple of minutes it will continue baking.

So far I've replaced the control panel (touchpad) and the igniter to no avail.

What do I look for next?

The F2 error indicates that a key is shorted on the panel. What is the part number of the part you replaced?

The control panel was: W10108310
and the ignitor: W10140611

The ignitor does come on, the gas just never flows; unless I turn on a top burner.

Before you replaced the control, was it doing the same thing?

Same problems before and after.
I'm thinking I'm gonna go for the temperature sensor next.

The temp. sensor's resistance is 1100 Ohms; which from what I gathered is what it should be.
Next would be the gas valve but I'm not sure how to measure that one. There's 2 connections which are bake and broil I assume, but where's common?

The sensor tests fine. You only have one burner, it is the same for bake and broil. The issue is not with the gas valve. There is some issue with the control, that is why you are getting the error code. Can you verify the polarity in the wall outlet is correct and that the ground is attached well? The smaller of the holes in the outlet to the round one should measure 120 VAC. The larger hole on the left to the round ground should measure 0 VAC. Is that what yours reads?

Just got home from work and installed the new gas valve.
This did solve one of the problems: The oven now lights on it's own again.
Still getting the F2 Error. I will check the outlet tomorrow.
Thank your for taking the time.

Then again maybe it's not working...

The polarity of the outlet seems fine: 120V between hot (short) and ground.

I replaced the temperature sensor in the meantime too, with no effect.
The last "major" part would be the gas regulator.

Could low gas pressure cause this? We're down to 25 gallons in a 250 gallon tank.

Well, I discovered something interesting while trying something I read somewhere else.
Set the oven to bake at 500 degrees and it actually came on by itself. After about 5 minutes I tried lowering the temperature and discovered that the control panel wasn't working at all. About a minute later it gave the F2 error.
