Default Igniter wont stop ckicking
Model Number: ZGU48L6DHSS   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

One of the igniters started clicking when the burner is turned off. The indicator light is also on when the burner is off. Once the burner is turned on it stops clicking and the burner works properly. I tried unplugging the cooktop for approx. 24 hours and cleaned the igniter but it did not help.

I live in a rural area and don't have a repair company within a reasonable distance. The parts look easy to replace and I should be able to order them online. What parts should I replace?

You have a bad spark module or wire harness that goes to your burner valves...............Locate the spark module and locate the wire for the burner having the problem switch spots on the module and see if you still have the same problem doesn't matter which white wire you exchange it with. If switching to another spot eliminates the constant problem your having then the spark module is bad. If it doesn't eliminate the problem i bet there's a short in your wire harness that goes to the burner valves..........9 of 10 usually is a bad spark module with your related problem good luck..........

I think it is the igniter switch. Part number WB24X10091. When I disconnect this part from the burner in question the clicking stops and the other burners work fine. When I move it to another burner location that burner does not work.

The igniter switch was the problem.

The problem is solved as all of the burners light up fine and don't click when they are off. But now I have the opposite problem, three of the six burners constantly click when they are on. This included the burner with the new switch. Could the spark module cause this problem?

yes.............you either have 1 or 2 spark modules..........thing is though if you only have 1 spark module all the ignitors will spark that's prefectly normal.......if you have 2 spark modules then half will spark if you have one faulty module or harness.

Just installed a new spark module and the problem is worse. I now have 4 burners that constantly click when lit. What now? We live in a rural area and do not have a repair man we can call.
