This past week we were getting ready to use the oven and turned it on to pre-heat. When we went to put the food in the upper oven the door was locked as if it was cleaning. The temp was set to about 400 and I saw the upper heating element on. I immediately turned power off to the oven at the breaker panel. Today I turned power back on and the door unlocked but the upper heating element came on even though the upper oven was not turned on. Yikes! What part(s) do I replace?

Here are your parts

Sounds like the control board (item 3 in the Control Panel Parts section) is toast re: either the broil relay contacts are welded together or the electronics that control the relay are bad.

Unfortunately it looks like it is obsolete but I would call them just to be sure.
You may be able to locate a replacement if you search around.
If not there are companies out there that repair old boards, just Google "appliance timer repair"

Unfortunately, just as I suspected. Any idea where that relay is located on the board, i.e. where I should be looking? Assuming I find a bad relay, any idea where I might locate another one? Fortunately for me I have access to some pretty nice equipment and some experts at circuit card assemblies.

Last and certainly not least, thanks much for your reply. I really appreciate it!

See the attachment for the tech sheet.
It should help you trace the circuit back to find the relay.

Schematics of the electronics on the board are not published by the manufacturers.

I think Digi-Key sells them but odds are that there are other vendors if you can get the manufacturers number off the relay.
