I'm really not sure how old this stove is. It was already here when we moved in. I sprayed some cleaner on the glass stove top and let it sit to soften some hardened food on the surface. I later came back and cleaned the glass top with no issues. Later that day I started hearing a "motor" and thought it was my dishwasher. I ignored it, however the sound began to grow louder. I eventually figured out that it was the stove making this sound and a soon smelt and saw electrical smoke coming from the stove top and saw red. I immediately assumed it was fire and flipped the breaker while yelling for my three young children to go outside.
We stayed outside for about 20-30 minutes while my husband made his way home from work. I went back in to check and the stove was fine. Now, about 2-3 weeks after the incident I have plugged the stove in the assess the damage and determine if it is repairable. The stove no longer smokes or makes the "motor" sound, however, I think the "fire" that I thought I saw was actually the top heating element of the oven since it willl not turn off when the stove is plugged into the wall. The stove also throws a f1 code error about every minute. A previous issue I encountered was the convection option no longer works. I am hoping maybe that is just because of the faulty touch pad.
I will look into replacing the touchpad/clock, but only if I can figure out why the oven stays on regardless of pressing cancel or any other button when it is plugged in. Till then, I have had to resort to only preparing meals in the microwave or george foreman grill. I am so not used to this. Living in Louisiana, I am used to preparing home cooked meals with enough left overs for 2-3 days, not eating boxed and frozen meals. Please help me figure out what is going on with this stove.
