Model Number: 36272321003 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years
i have a kenmore range that i bought new in 2003. i moved to the country last year and converted the range form lp to propane. since then it seems to take longer than normal to preheat and to cook. also while first heating up it puts out a strong odor and some black type suet from oven exhaust. any time to fine tune adjust this would help.

How did you convert it? What did you do?

i changed all of the jets on the stove top. on the range i did as the manual stated and adjusted air flow and switched position of blue valve. the stove top works good, i have recently replace the oven ignitor. oven did not work at all before that

Which part did you call "blue valve"? Is it a pressure regulator:
If you switched the pressure regulator right way then try to play with the oven burner orifice and the air mixture. Gene.

Try to adjust the orifice by turning it CW to the end and then turn it CCW 1/2 turn at a time and check the ignition after each turn.

i gave up on it this weekend, had company over to watch the iowa michigan game and after waiting hour and a half to get oven preheated to make up some wings. so i pretty much threw it out the door, it really made me feel pretty good destroying the p.o.s. to bad i had wasted my money trying to fix it. learned a lesson, hope to pass it on to others. if your appliance is over 5 years old. dont fix it. just go buy a new one. nobody makes any appliances that last anymore, so just because your grandma has had her stove for 30 years and actually uses it. you will never have the same luck. hope my advise helps some of you, i have never got any advise from this site that helped me.
