Default Oven door power latch
Model Number: SC272TS   Brand: Thermador   Age: 1 - 5 years

The top oven will not self clean , but the bottom oven will. The top latch is no op and the bottom one works...the lights /door "closed" switches both work.

All roads lead to the top power door latch. Any input about how to go about replacement will be appreciated as it will not come out through the front and I am guessing that the whole double oven must come out ...Like having to pull an engine to change a spark plug

Thanks Gordon Emberley

I have similar problem. I just finished working with mine. Some screws will need drilling out because too tight. Tried WD40. Lock light does not come on and motor latch does not operate. Pulled oven halfway out. Not worth the trouble. Latch cost over $100. Will probably replace whole double over. Over 10 years old.

I am also fed up with the (pricey) Termadore/Bosch run around, though now committed to having a service person comming for a "flat fee" of $178
to install the part that I already have. I tried to install myself and noticed right off that it was very different in size and configuration and would not fit the original mounting holes and also had to be completely rewired ad the new one has an extra switch...I'd call that a "manufacturer's defect", if a replacement part must be retrofitted and I never got so far as to find that the screws were heat welded to the frame as you did...seems to me that the "self cleaning" just cooks the motorized latch...Can't wait till the bottom oven also gives up....Kind regards, Gordon Emberley
