Default Oven not working after self-cleaning
Model Number: JBP77G   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

I performed a self-cleaning cycle on a GE JBP77G. After the cleaning cycle, the oven will not work. However, I can perform another cleaning cycle. But it will not operate for normal cooking conditions. The latch door light continuously blinks when I try to use the oven. The stove top works as it should.

Hi.

You should check the door latch assembly. Check if it's opens completely and the Logic Switch operates correctly.

Part number: AP2024600

Part number: AP2024600

I assumed that the model number is JBP77GS2, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Simon.

Jdavis, Your description indicates an issue in the door latch assembly

Part number: AP2020849

Part number: AP2020849

or the logic switch or wiring

Part number: AP2024576

Part number: AP2024576

If the control "thinks" the latch is still in the self clean position, it will not allow you to program a bake or broil selection. You'll need to raise the cook top assembly and check the mechanical latch components for proper alignment, bent components and loose screws. then the logic switch circuit and wires for proper operation and circuits back to the ERC/Clock.

The best way to test the circuit is with a multi meter

Part number: AP5641751

Part number: AP5641751

And to test the circuit at the three(3) pin connector on the ERC/Clock. Unplug the connector, place one meter probe on/in the #1 wire and the other meter probe in/on the #3 wire, of the harness connector. You'll need to manually operate the switch on the latch mechanism. In the "relaxed" / unlocked position there should be an "open" circuit. When the switch lever is "actuated" / locked position there should be a "closed" circuit. Doing this test in this manner will verify if the switch, wiring and connections are proper.
