Default question about sliding view door on propane tube under range
Brand: Kenmore   Age: More than 10 years

When replacing the lower ignitor on my old Kenmore gas range I noticed that the propane line/jet goes into the a hollow distribution tube that is attached to the base of the oven. Well at the junction of the jet into this tube there appears to be a window with a sliding cover. Well the cover was open allowing me to see the propane jet, and it made me wonder if the door was open for a reason or someone forgot to close it. It would make sense to me that the door should be closed but I am questioning if I should have left it open. Anyone know?

Hi.

Leave this "door" the way it was - this the adjustment of the air - gas mixture.

Thank you.

Simon.
