![]() Model Number: KDRS467VSS Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: Less than 1 year
![]() We have a KitchenAid KDRS467VSS gas range in our kitchen, along with a microwave/oven combo in the wall. We've been in our house almost a year and use both ovens frequently. Whenever we use the in-wall oven, I notice that once we are done the fan stays on and cools the unit. Now, for the KDRS467VSS, I could have sworn that when we first moved in and for the first few times we used it, it too cooled in the same fashion and the fan stayed on until the temperature was down. Well, it doesn't do that any longer and the exterior door surface gets extremely hot (~160-170). We recently had it replaced (yesterday in fact), and the first thing I did was turn it on for a little over an hour and then turn it off. Sure enough, the fan did not work and the exterior got really hot. I have two young children and this is a safety hazard. The first time few times I had the original oven serviced, the tech (and Whirlpool) bought agreed that the fan should stay on, but were unable to fix it. So my question is, am I completely insane and this unit doesn't behave the way I would expect, or is the fan supposed to stay on and cool the unit (and we just got another oven that is also broken)? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Related Models |

![]() Did the fan work while the oven was on?
There is the oven vent right above the door (under the control panel). Make sure sure it's clean and not blocked. What is the end of the model number? Gene.

![]() Hello,
Per the tech sheet and wiring diagram (attached to the post) the blower motor should work on high speed during the self clean and on low speed on any other cycle. It should stop as soon as the heating stopped. The oven door is heating up because of the oven vent located very close to the top part of the door. Here are the breakdown diagrams and Parts for KitchenAid KDRS467VSS04 Range - AppliancePartsPros.com Gene.
