Default Error code F10?
Model Number: FEFL79GBA   Brand: Frigidaire   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

Hello,

I was using my oven the other day to make cookies. I had it set to 350, and put the cookies in. Less than two minutes later it begins beeping and is showing an F10 error code, and the cookies are completely black.

I've looked around for the F10 error code, it says it means "Runaway Temperature". But other posts I've seen describing the problem don't seem to describe a similar situation like I had above, I read more about how the element never shuts off and they have to cut power to the oven, rather than just suddenly burning cookie dough. The oven shut off when I turned it off from the control panel, I didn't have to cut the power to it or anything.

Any assistance would be much appreciated, thank you!

Here are your parts
Parts for Frigidaire FEFL79GBA Range - AppliancePartsPros.com

Here is the etch sheet.
http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodin...16441481en.pdf

Those folks who had to cut power to the unit had a similar but different problem to yours. In their case either the bake or the broil relay contacts on the control board had welded together so that the element was always on.

In your case the relays are probably OK but for some reason the control board is keeping the relay closed.

Get an oven thermometer so you can measure the actual oven temperature.
Have you tried it since then?

It would not hurt to check the oven sensor with a meter, see the tech sheet.

I doubt this is your problem as the sensor is what told the control that the oven was too hot.
Odds are that the control board/timer is toast.

If you check the oven temperature and it is still running too hot, try removing power from the unit (unplug or flip the breaker off) for a couple minutes to see if the board will reset and work correctly.

Sometimes a glitch can confuse the microprocessor on the board and cause problems.
This is also a long shot.

Hi,

Thanks so much for the reply.

Yes I have tried it since then. I didn't want to make the original post too long so I didn't explain everything, but in case it changes anything I will explain the rest of it.

A few days before the cookies were burned, I had tried baking another dessert. The recipe called for approximately 35 minutes bake time, but it had to bake for over 75 minutes. I had chalked this up to using a very different pan size than the recipe called for, and doubling the batch. I brushed it off as nothing, even though I thought 75 minutes was excessive, especially when I made the exact thing a week later at a friends house and it took about 45 minutes. Of course by this time the oven at my house had already gone wonky, which was why I was at my friends house baking.

Come to find out, someone else who lives in the house decided it was a good idea to line the bottom of the oven with tinfoil, to make it easier to clean. Even though it is a self-cleaning oven. Apparently at some point the foil had curled up and was touching one of the coils along the bottom. Once the foil was removed, we turned the oven on to test it again. It seemed to work fine. Used it for a few weeks, no error codes flashed. Assumed it was fixed.

Then around 3 weeks later the same thing happened. Making dinner, put some biscuits in the oven, and a minute or two later they were burnt.

I haven't tried it since then.

Thank you for the links to the tech sheet and parts, as well as the advice. I will check all of that in the next few days.

Default Kenmore over error F10

Hi, I'm having the error code F10, with the same problem as others have had, with the oven getting incredibly hot. My oven is a Kenmore model 316402710.
The cooktop works fine.

I'd just like to know what steps I need to take to fix it. I wasn't sure if the EOC needs to be replaced or if the problem is something else. I haven't checked the temperature probe as I don't have an ohmmeter.
