What's the trick to tilting back cook top to expose clock/timer? Does front panel/cover need to be removed? I want to install new clock/timer.
Thanks, Bing

Unscrew the top burners (CCW), disconnect the wires from the burner igniter and put the burners aside (remember where which burner goes).

Remove the screws holding the top panel (under the burners). Lift the top panel by releasing the spring clips between the top and control panels. Use a putty knife to disengage clips.

Advice given seems not to pertain to my stove. Burners do not have threads, they lift out. There are no screws under burners. Illustrations referenced are not for a Magic Chef model 6498VVD. I'll try another web site.

This message is for Gene, Senior advisor.....I want to apologize on this forum to Gene for doubting his expertise. I jumped to a conclusion regarding the removal of the burners after Gene advised the proper disassembly procedure regarding my range. I decided to look again at my range top, reviewed Gene's instructions, removed the burners, removed the screws and up came the top to expose the clock. I ordered part this morning and should have range back in working order next week. Thanks, Gene, for the advice....I'm eating a large helping of Crow for dinner tonight. Bing, La Crescenta.:o
