I'm a 40+ year HVAC tech with quite a bit of Appliance Repair under my belt,
especially my own,

Awhile back, a customer was having issues with her Jenn-Air smooth top oven
where the control panel was almost non-responsive, only a few beeps when pressing the keypad.

After a couple hours online, looked like and easy fix with a control board replacement, so that was done today.

But after restoring power, I still have the same problem.

So what else could it be?

Thanks
Paul

Here are your parts
Parts for Maytag JES9900BAS20 Range - AppliancePartsPros.com

If the beeps sound normal and the control board display looks normal then odds are that the control panel (keypad) is the culprit.

Hey denman,

The keypad does respond partly, it shows time but you can't change it,
the numbers 1-6 beep but the others don't do anything.

That's about it, pretty much dead, so your sure I'll need a new keypad?

The parts for this range can costs as much as buying a new range.

Yes I am as sure as I can be without being there.

You could try the following but since you installed the panel into a new control board and got exactly the same symptoms it is a long shot.

Connector Cleaning / Checking
Unplug the unit
Open it up
Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board.
Clean the edge connector. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol.
If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive.
Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here.
Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates.
Reconnect everything and give it a try.
