Default inside element on triple burner issue
Model Number: MER6775BAF   Brand: Maytag   Age: 5 - 10 years   
Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
Five burner flat stove top. It popped the breaker yesterday, today it works fine, BUT the inside element on the front right three burner ALWAYS comes on no matter what other burner you turn on!! Stove does not effect it, but if any other burner is turned on, the inside elelment on the tripple burner always comes on. Any ideas where to start??

Hi Dan,

Remove the cooktop and the rear control panel cover. Check for continuity all infinite switches, the wires and the heating element for the triple burner.

Post the results.

The Infinite switch that controls the triple burner was the culprit. I pulled it out and it had a pretty good burn mark on it, so I suspected it before I checked continuity. The switch itself does NOT have H1 and H2 marked specifically, but the diagram you sent does, and with the switch OFF, H1 and H2 had continuity. $50 later for the new switch, and no more ghost burner!!
